Not to be confused with...

[edit]

Not to be confused with Robbie Williams. For other people named Robin Williams, see Robin Williams (disambiguation). This looks like someone a far less famous person would have put on in order to get more attention. As in "if Robbie Williams is famous enough to even be marginally confused with Robin Williams, he must be famous".

My intention is to remove this, unless there is some sort of compelling reason not to. There is not a person on the planet who would confuse Robin Williams with anyone, or anyone with him. Where there is no ambiguity a disambiguity statement is itself factually incorrect in its premise. Kurt (talk) 02:05, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry but I disagree. Not everyone who comes to the English Wikipedia knows everything about whatever celebrity or knows how to exactly spell whichever celebrity's name. In my opinion Rob/Robbie/Robin/Robert coupled with a last name spelled exactly the same is enough to necessitate a "not to be confused with" along with disambiguation page or pages. - Shearonink (talk) 03:13, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Including Zachary and Cody, Electric Boogaloo

[edit]

The 2014 discussion on including Zachary and Cody Williams in the infobox has been stalled for quite a while with no consensus. At this point, I wonder if we can get a consensus to include them (such as an RfC, etc.). Thoughts? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 14:49, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Just making sure I understand correctly: there's a conversation from 2014 about whether to include Robin Williams' adult children in the infobox in his article, this conversation has no comments for 10+ years, it is somehow still open with no consensus reached, and you would like it to be closed but first more people need to weigh in. Is my understanding correct? Delectopierre (talk) 07:14, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Think so. There's currently a hidden note in the infobox: Please do not add the names of the other children until a consensus has been reached on the talk page under the section heading #Including Zachary and Cody in the infobox.. Also, for reference, the Template:Infobox person documentation regarding the children parameter reads: Typically the number of children (e.g., 3); only list names of independently notable or particularly relevant children. Names may be preceded by a number to show total children and avoid implying that named children are the only offspring. For multiple entries, use an inline list. For privacy reasons, consider omitting the names of living children, unless notable. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 07:55, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it needs further discussion if the current infobox satisfies the infobox manual of style. Seasider53 (talk) 11:11, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
